Practices will start near the end of April, with games starting around Memorial Day. We try to have the season complete by mid-July.
Typically, events are Monday-Saturday. We try to avoid Sunday's, but due to certain circumstances they may be used.
Typically, events during the week start after 5:00pm, with events on Saturday starting around 9:00am.
Every year there are a flood of requests throughout all the leagues for a specific coach or to play on a team with specific child. The number of these requests makes it impossible to accommodate all. Therefore, Tee-Ball is the only league that coach/player requests will be accepted and applied. **NOTE: Requests cannot be guaranteed**
During registration, there will be a place to make a note of any specific situations that will be helpful for us to know about as we assemble teams.
These are decided by the teams assigned head coach.
Cleats are required for MINORS and up. Review each leagues rules for specifics. Leagues BELOW Minors are optional however it is highly encouraged.
Each league has different allowances for bats. Refer to the specific set of rules for each league, or ask your coach.
Yes- your child can "play up" in a league with participants older than your current grade. There are some caveats to this however. First you must download our requst form from our Documents and Policies section on this website. Fill this out completely and submit to amherstball@gmail.com. Requests will be decided on a case by case basis and will be vetted out thoroughly. We will NOT grant these kinds of requests for reasons of convenience. A player must have a skill level high enough to allow him to compete safely and on par with the participants in the league you are wanting to join. You can only play up ONE league level AND only if you are a 2nd year particpant in the age group you are currently eligible for.
Registration ends on March 15, so nothing before then. In early April, teams will start getting formed and coaches will be in contact using the information you provided in this registration process.
Of course! One of the most rewarding things about becoming a coach is watching all the kids develop skills they didnt think they possessed both athletically and personally and when its your own child it makes it all that much better because as a coach you have a viewpoint no one else has. Once you are awarded a team, your child is automatically placed on your team before any team assembly happens. This is the ONLY automatic placement however. If there are assistant coaches you specifcally want to coach with you have two options:
1) in Tee Ball - you can make this be known through the registration process - **NOTE: Requests cannot be guaranteed**
2) for leagues AFTER Tee Ball we organize teams by drafting, you will have to draft the child of the assistant through the draft process.
